As the recent Director of Planned Giving with the USS Midway Museum, Jim was responsible for procuring legacy gifts for the museum. Jim was the originator of the Planned Giving program raising over 5 million dollars in legacy gifts. Jim has also been responsible for bringing the corporate sponsorship program to the museum, which resulted in highly profitable contracts from sources such as the NFL. Additionally, he leveraged the investment management vendors which resulted in more museum gifts. He is versatile with non-profit database software and possesses a strong knowledge base of charitable gifting and financial planning techniques. Jim was responsible for producing the Mission Video for the Midway Museum which won the Best Mission Video 2013 award from Crescendo Interactive. His duties also included promoting the distant education services to high schools in Orange County which resulted in the successful use of the Museum’s electronic field trips.
His Midway experience has encouraged him to form Legacy Gift Specialists, with a goal of helping small to mid-size non-profits find legacy gifts.
Jim has authored several books: Midway’s Planned Giving Pocket Guide, Planning for the Golden Years with Variable Annuities, Financial Planning with Variable Annuities, Survey of Advanced Sales, and Conserve Your Wealth in Seven Easy Steps: A Practical Guide for Seniors. Jim earned his Business Administration degree from CSUH in Hayward, CA and holds a law degree from Western State College of Law in Fullerton, CA. His designations include, CFP and CLU. Jim’s past employers include Transamerica Life, New York Life, and Merrill Lynch. He is a past member of the National Speakers Association and has given numerous seminars on charitable and financial planning.
Jim is the President Elect of the Partnership for Philanthropic Planning Orange County. He enjoys reading historical and technology based books and listening to classical music. San Clemente, CA is home to Jim and his wife Candace.
