Bio- Tom Ligare, CLU
Tom Ligare the Founder, and President of ‘Planned Giving’ Marketing Solutions and Legacy Life Giving has a strong belief in ‘our compelling desire to give back’ to society. He designed Legacy Life Giving, “a better way of giving”, to do just that.
Experience: Tom has a wide ranging business experience. With degrees in Economics and Business from Westminster College in Salt Lake City, Tom moved to Park City, Utah where his State Farm Insurance business built relationships with over 4,000 clients, totaling over, 10,000 policies and over $6,000,000 in annual premiums. His business acumen nationally ranked Tom Ligare as one of the top 1% of all 17,000 State Farm agents — received his Chartered Life Underwriter, ‘CLU’ designation in 1985.
Tom has taught business and marketing classes at Brooks Institute, and as a guest lecturer at the University of Utah, College of Business and the Marriott School of Management at BYU. Also is a mentor with the ‘Management School of Technology’ at University of California Santa Barbara.
Commitment to Community: Tom has been continually involved with community organizations such as Park City Ski Educational Foundation — as a board member for 15 years and President to the organization for 5 years. He was an integral contributor to the opening of the Park City Winter Sports School as a board member and President of the Board. In addition, Tom was on the Executive Board of the Park City Chamber of Commerce and Visitors Bureau for 6 years and also served as President representing three major ski resorts. Other organizations included Park City Rotary and Park City Handicapped Sports (National Ability Center) and the Restaurant Tax Advisory Committee. Tom is a graduate of the 1st class of the Park City Leadership Program.
Tom continues his commitment to Rotary of the Carpinteria Rotary Club as the Treasurer of The Carpinteria Rotary Foundation.. Just this past year Tom has been honored as the recipient of the ‘Paul Harris Fellow’ award which makes him a multiple Paul Harris Fellow. Tom is the recent past president of the Carpinteria Chamber of Commerce and sits on the Chamber Executive Board. In addition Tom is on the Board of Directors of Safewater International and Board of Trustees of Girl’s Inc. Carpinteria.

Chartered Advisor in Philanthropy: In 2017 Tom earned the CAP® professional designation – Chartered Advisor in Philanthropy from the Irwin Graduate School of the American College of Financial Services, Bryn Mawr, Pennsylvania. The CAP® program provides the knowledge and tools needed by professionals in the nonprofit and financial services fields to help clients reach their charitable giving objectives while also helping them meet their estate planning and wealth management goals.
